Helpful Tips for Nettie WV Vintage Storage Customers

Plan your storage space.  Place items that you may need to access often in front of your storage unit.

Drain all water from washing machine pumps and drain hoses dishwashers, garden hoses, etc before storing them to prevent damage from the natural threat of freezing, common in the Nicholas County WV area.

Any concrete floor may become cold and damp, condensation may form on metal your items may be protected by placing a protective cover under and over your goods.  Seal as many items as possible in plastic or any water proof container. Containers for storage may be found in general merchandise stores in the following Nicholas County towns of Richwood WV, Craigsville WV, Summersville WV, or Leivasy WV.

Using the same size strong boxes are best for stacking.   Stack the lightest boxes on top.
List the contents on the out side of each box, then tape it shut.   To efficiently utilize your storage space, remove legs from furniture when possible.  Prevent loss of the screws, bolts and washers by using a labeled zip-lock baggie.

Freezers or other large appliances make excellent storage holders for blankets and or other cloth items. Furniture with drawers can be used to store small items and clothing sealed in plastic bags.

Consider placing a trash bag in side a cardboard box, filling the bag and sealing, this seals out moisture, common in Nicholas County WV. This may be more cost effective than purchasing plastic storage tubs with lids, for economical short term storage. Consider this for your important papers, books and clothing.

Caution:  DO NOT store anything LIQUID or COMBUSTIBLE (ie paint thinners, gasoline, solvents, paint, etc)   Do not store any food items in boxes or plastic since this may attract natural pest such as ants or field mice. It is recommended you use a product /chemical in your unit to control the natural pests common in Nicholas County WV.
